Elders Says Yes to Recreational Marijuana

Arnold_pot

Former US General Surgeon, Jocelyn Elders, expressed her support recently, through CNN, regarding the legalization and decriminalization of marijuana. As of next month, California voters will have their say as to whether they should legalize marijuana for recreation purposes. For those of you that don’t know, marijuana is already legalized in California for medical purposes and now they are taking a step forward on its other use.

Elders thinks that it is horrible to criminalize young people. Additionally, the government uses too many resources for things that are not detrimental to society. She claims that marijuana is not a toxic substance.

The opponents of Proposition 19, the bill regarding the legalization of marijuana for recreation purposes, insist that it will be the downfall of the state should it be legalized. In contrast, the proponents say that once the bill will be legalized it will minimize the number of people in jail for using for treatment.
